Painting a Metal Fence
You can also repaint fences quickly and easily with our metal paint. We also recommend using EPODEX ACRYLIC PROTECT for outdoor fences, as metal fences are dimensionally stable.
Basically, the procedure is always the same and consists of cleaning, roughening and lacquering. Since fences are usually already galvanised, priming is not necessary here. However, there are a few special features with fences, because in most cases you will carry out the painting work outside.
To ensure that the paint adheres properly and can harden, do the work on a day with moderate temperatures, without strong sunshine or precipitation. Only after the last coat of paint has cured is your fence really resistant to the stresses and strains stresses.
Metal Lacquers Advantages
Painting with metal lacquer is not difficult. Start by preparing the metal surface. For metal, it is crucial whether you want to paint untreated metal or metal that has already been painted. In any case, the surface must be clean and free of grease to ensure good adhesion. Roughen the surface with sandpaper. For large metal surfaces, you can use a sander. Tape off all surfaces that are not to be painted and also protect the surrounding area with a suitable cover.
For untreated metal, the next step should be to apply a rust protection primer and let it dry according to the instructions. Metal that has already been painted does not need any further priming, here roughening is sufficient as preparation. Mix your EPODEX ACRYLIC PROTECT. Next, apply the lacquer with a brush or foam roller in a first, thin coat. Allow the layer to dry and repeat the process if necessary. When the desired opacity has been achieved, allow the varnish to cure properly. Only after the curing time has elapsed can you load the surfaces as usual.
