Chalk paint can be called an all-rounder with a clear conscience. It is a decorative water-based paint. You can use it to paint walls, upholstery, door, and window frames, for example. It can be used to paint absorbent surfaces such as cardboard, wood, clay, or even fabric. It is also suitable for non-absorbent surfaces such as metal, glass, plastic, or painted surfaces. Application of Chalk-based Paint
The application of chalk-based paint is very simple. Basically, any paint adheres best to grease-free, clean, dry, and sanded surfaces. Sanding is not necessary with chalk-based paint, as the paint has a porous structure that does not penetrate the surface but lies on top of it. However, for very smooth and specially painted surfaces, we always recommend sanding the surface. This will ensure that the chalk paint adheres optimally and that you get an even colour distribution.
Our paint is best applied with a brush. Depending on the size of the surface, you can use a flat brush or a paintbrush. It is better to paint the area in several thin layers until the desired opacity is achieved. Allow the paint to dry completely before using your furniture as usual. If you want to achieve a used look, you can sand the surface a little in places after it has dried. For long-lasting results, it is recommended to seal it with a sealant. To do so, use EPODEX wax or an acrylic varnish such as our EPODEX ACRYLIC PROTECT.
